Diocese of Namibia

 

The Diocese of Namibia falls within the boundaries of the Republic of Namibia. Namibia is a country of vast open spaces and sparsely populated villages – with 2.1 million people occupying an area of 823 680km². 70% of the population lives in the Northern, rural areas. 53% of the population is less than 20 years old.

Unemployment figures stand at 34%, and HIV prevalence is an estimated 26%. Higher rates of HIV prevalence are found in the northern, rural regions, where 22 of the diocese’s 32 parishes are situated.
