Diocese of Lesotho

 

The Diocese of Lesotho is located within the borders of the Kingdom of Lesotho, otherwise known as the Kingdom of the Sky due to its largely mountainous terrain. Lesotho is home to 1.9 million people, 99.7% of whom are Basotho. There are also an estimated 100 000 orphans living within the borders of Lesotho (5% of the population). 35% of male wage earners are migrant labourers in South African mines.

Lesotho has an unemployment rate of 45% and 49% of its people live below the poverty line. There is extreme inequality in distribution of income in the Kingdom of Lesotho.
