Diocese of Cape Town

The former Diocese of Cape Town established its HIV and AIDS programme in 2001 under the banner of “Fikelela” (Reach Out). Since then, the diocese has divided, giving rise to three new dioceses: False Bay, Saldanha Bay and a much smaller Diocese of Cape Town. Fikelela has substantial, dedicated capacity, employing a full-time coordinator, three field workers and a secretary.

The following programmes are running in the Diocese of Cape Town:

- Parish based HIV task teams and support groups
- Orphan support
- Peer education (agents of change programme)
